Good Beer peeps is the point of Untappd

A lot of brewers grumble about Untappd and Untappd users. They get mad at the bad ratings. Get mad at the “One star, not my style” guy (who DOES suck, mind you).

It may lead them to cry out “What is even the point of Untappd!?”

The point of Untappd, to me, is this:

  • The colorful characters of Untappd.
  • The documenting of beers drank, keeping a record.
  • The ability to find information about a beer. What am I supposed to be tasting here?
  • A social media that is a closed circuit for beer lovers.

The Layout: What The Day Of Drinking May Bring

Today’s drinking possibilities

These are the beers up for drinking today. I will (hopefully) not be drinking all of them, but they are the ones in play.

I did a beer run yesterday so I am flush with possibilities.

Activities scheduled:

  • Swimming. Upper 90s today, might be the last Sunday I would want to get in the water as pool season winds down.
  • Rams vs. Cards at 1:00 PST. My Rams look like they are still hungover from their Super Bowl victory. I think they will lose today.
  • House Of The Dragon watch. It will be the time jump episode as there will be several new actors playing established character rolls. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get used to that. Great season so far.

The Pales are the most likely to go. The “Fresh To Death” is probably going to start things off as it is a 5.6 alc.

Humble Sea “Boatload Of Citra” is going down too as it also looks like a good day-drinker.

Let’s hope I stay lucid for House of the Dragon tonight, that is the most likely time for the Pliny.

This Double Strata From Alvarado Street Made Me Buy The New Interpol Album

“Double Strata” from Alvarado Street is good but it also causes you to spend money

I am having just the right kind of buzz right now. The right kind to order a new record that I can’t truly afford but bought anyway.

While drinking the excellent “Double Strata” WCIPA from Alvarado Street Brewing (and after a “Booming Rollers” from Modern Times), I was reading this music newsletter.

He mentioned the new Interpol album and remarked how the band has gotten better over time for him. A feeling I share.

That coupled with a beer buzz pushed me to go and pre-order “The Other Side Of Make Believe”.

So now, $36.37 later, I will be having their new record show up at my door right about the time I totally forget that I ever bought it.
