A lot of brewers grumble about Untappd and Untappd users. They get mad at the bad ratings. Get mad at the “One star, not my style” guy (who DOES suck, mind you).

It may lead them to cry out “What is even the point of Untappd!?”

The point of Untappd, to me, is this:

The colorful characters of Untappd.
The documenting of beers drank, keeping a record.
The ability to find information about a beer. What am I supposed to be tasting here?
A social media that is a closed circuit for beer lovers.

Making a Commitment To Seasonal Beers

“Quarktoberfest” Bavarian Festbier from Bottle Logic Brewing

I will admit that my standard IPA, Pales, Hazzies, lifestyle is getting a little boring.

A lot of beers are tasting the same. Only an occasional standout or crappy one disrupts the rhythm.

So I have decided to make a commitment to a different genre of beer, just to break it up. And I have chosen: Seasonals.

While it is true I might try one or two Seasonals (Sierra’s Celebration Ale or some random ass Pumpkin), I would quickly go back to my IPA routine.

But I am changing it up. This Oktoberfest season I have had four different Festbier Lagers (maybe a new record), and might have a couple more.

Then it will be on to Pumpkin beers, then Winter Ales, and so on.

Hopefully this will make things more interesting. At least give me some better knowledge of the Seasonals out there and help me enjoy my hoppy beers more when I sneak them in.

The Layout: What The Day Of Drinking May Bring

These are the beers up for drinking today. I will (hopefully) not be drinking all of them, but they are the ones in play.

I did a beer run yesterday so I am flush with possibilities.

Activities scheduled:

Swimming. Upper 90s today, might be the last Sunday I would want to get in the water as pool season winds down.
Rams vs. Cards at 1:00 PST. My Rams look like they are still hungover from their Super Bowl victory. I think they will lose today.
House Of The Dragon watch. It will be the time jump episode as there will be several new actors playing established character rolls. It will be interesting to see how long it takes to get used to that. Great season so far.

The Pales are the most likely to go. The “Fresh To Death” is probably going to start things off as it is a 5.6 alc.

Humble Sea “Boatload Of Citra” is going down too as it also looks like a good day-drinker.

Let’s hope I stay lucid for House of the Dragon tonight, that is the most likely time for the Pliny.

I did a hazzies beer rollin’ bit across the social medias the other night and it got a big “Meh!” From the fuckin’ Internets.

Eat it, you stupid Internet, THAT is quality content!! 🤣😂🤣🍻

Okay, well, it’s not THAT funny, I suppose.

But it is a real thing, rolling your hazy IPAs. Why? It mixes it. Gets the yeast sentiment moving around and makes for a more even beer. Hazzies require a little work, but worth it to most.
