BLACK IPAs Are Already Over Again. Stop Before It’s Too Late

Black IPAs have already made their “comeback” and are moments away from hibernating again.

If you have a BIPA in the tank, cool. It’ll be fine. But don’t get too crazy.

I only mention it because I’m observing a lot of buzz from people just now figuring out Black IPAs have come back, and are acting like they are a permanent thing.

Learn from history, my children, they are not BACK back.

I think BIPAs can stick around. But only by just being released during Black IPA Season.

What is Black IPA Season?

What’s that you say? You didn’t know there was a BIPA Season? Well there isn’t one. But we are making one, right here, today.

January 1st – March 30th. I declare this to be Black IPA/Cascadian Dark Ale Season, forever and more and stuff.

What Should I Do With These Old Beers!?

For various reasons I have these old beers.

Mostly they were bought on accident, either from not checking the dates or unable to see the dates due to the packaging. One is a gifted old beer.

Should I throw them out?

Yeah but there’s nothing worse than an old IPA, especially a hazy.

I currently have the space for them. They may not taste good but they are still beer. And I don’t have an infinite beer budget and sometimes run out BUT still really want a beer.

And sometimes a dude will show up and just want beer and not care how old they are.

Well, I guess I’ll keep them around then. Since I have the space for them at the moment.

Glad I worked that “problem” out here.

If I only live bed in a place that snowed and I needed to save parking spots, my problem would be solved here:

What do you do with your old hoppy beers?

A Focus On Fridges

For those that like alternative beer-merch, Modern Times Brewing has a $20 pack of artful playing cards for you.

Fridge Check
As beer drinkers, we like to show off our beer fridges. I used to do a Fridge Friday on Twitter and Instagram. I’d post pics of my beer fridge. But my fridge has been too lame to show off.

Anyway, I’m just leading to this New York Times quiz that’s kinda fun to take:

There was one with a 6-pack of Guinness and I guessed correctly as Biden, but really, that could have gone either way.

I guessed at a better rate than the average. I feel it’s my Fridge Friday skills paying off.

Reco Of The Week

I really loved the “Other Music” documentary. I watched on Prime Video (or whatever it’s called), I think it may be available on other platforms.

I found a lot of parallels between a beloved record shop and a brewery/taproom. The way they are both community centers of that scene.

Plus, if you watch closely you’ll see one of the owners is a Dogfish Head fan.

The Size of Texas

Aaron from Austin Beer Guide, first rode down every street in Austin and now he has trekked his bike along the state lines to creat that map. Just thought it was cool.

Cheers, Aaron!

Oh, and cheers to YOU! Thanks for the read. (Sorry it was a little light this week) I really appreciate the shares and love.

Be safe out there!

Brewery Speak: Beer Tree Brew Co

Thanks to a post I noticed by @BrianBeerGod on Instagram, I have a new brewery to look out for: Beer Tree Brew Co.

These two beers speak to me:

  • Clickbait.
  • Maps and Books.

Clickbait has a cool name and a hop called Michigan Cooper. I have never heard of this hop before but that name is rad and it makes me want to try it.

Maps and Books. I love the name for a beer. Maps? Cool. Books? Sure.

The whole vibe of this brewery speaks to me.

How I’m going to get their beer since they are in Port Crane, New York? I don’t know, since I don’t trade (too lazy).

But I have hope.
