What Beer Are These Two Bucks Fans Drinking?

Downing Beers In The Deer District

I dunno if you’ve been watching the NBA Finals with the Phoenix Suns and the Milwaukee Bucks but a story within the series is the “Deer District” outside the Buck’s arena.

It’s pretty much 20,000 + of mostly 20-somethings, partying and watching the games on big screens outside.

ABC loves to cut to the Deer District during the games and even pre-game, like with this clip:

Did you see the two dudes timing their beer drinking as the camera goes by? Cool except, as a beer nerd I want to know what they’re drinking.

Their hands unfortunately covered up the beer label. You can glimpse a little bit but not enough. It doesn’t look like a beer I recognize.

An Investigation Is In Order

So, are there any beer places by the Bucks arena?

Let’s take a look at the area around the arena and see if that gives us any clues:

Do you see it? Good City Brewing. That’s right there, man.

A quick check of their Instagram reveals:…

Ohhhh yeah that’s gotta be it; Home, a Lager from Good City.

Cool, glad to see Indie Beer on National TV. Keep having fun, Deer District, and Go Suns!

Why Don’t Breweries Sell Bags Of Ice?

I was ranting about this yesterday on the Perfect Pour: Why don’t more taprooms carry bags of ice!?

When I make a run to a brewery I usually have an ice-chest with me. My fridge doesn’t crank out enough ice to make a relevant amount so after I pick up my beers from the brewery, I then have to stop at a store and buy ice.

One too many stops for me – I’m lazy.

Why don’t taprooms have bags of ice for sale? I supposet there must be some but I have not seen nor heard of this. Not even in bottle shops.

Matt on the show pointed out he would give you some ice from their machine at Tioga Sequoia Brewing if you asked but I don’t want to do that. I want to buy it right then and there with my beers.

Sure, I will totally forget to buy the bags of ice at a brewery that started carrying ice, just like how I walk out of a grocery store forgetting the ice. But it would be nice to know I could have gotten the ice at the taproom.

Normalize bags of ice at breweries!

There have been times (maybe now still) when you could buy the perfect-for-drinking, Sonic Ice, in bags from your local Sonic joint. It would feel like a misuse to put them in an ice-chest but it might work for the road trip with a brewery stop attached.

I Can’t Citra Like I Used To

I don’t know what’s going on with me but I might have started developing a problem with the Citra hop.

What at times has been my favorite hop, has become harsh.

Let’s hope this is just a bad faze. Maybe I can blame someone else because thinking it might be my fault is making me hate myself.

Oh wait, it’s probably because Costco is making Citra hopped beers:

Yeah screw it, I’m putting it on them. Fuck you, Costco for ruining Citra!

Oreo Cookies Have The Same Energy As Craft Beer

Oreo flavors
So many Oreo variants

I don’t know if you have noticed this lately but Oreo Cookies are really into doing one-offs and stunt batches of cookies.

Really drawing parallels to craft breweries.

The brewers putting out different hazzies or desert stouts. Weird experiments and marketing stunts. Oreo is right there with them.

There are so many, including Lady Gaga variants and a 4th Of July themed one with pop rock style candy in it.

I have had these and the 4th of July one is quite interesting.

Popping Candy Oreo – Red White & Blue

I assume there are plenty of Oreo flavored stouts or IPAs out there, I just haven’t seen any.
