Anatomy Of A Hangover: Liquid Gravity’s Mo’ Diggity & East Brother’s Gold, Edition

East Brother Brewing Gold IPA and Liquid Gravity Mo Diggity DDH IPA

I write these hangover posts to help future me and maybe future you, have less hangovers and stuff.

I had three beers last night and woke up with a Level 2 (scale of 1 to 5, five being bad) hangover.

Beer One: East Brother Brewing: Gold IPA. 7.3%. Hops unknown. 16oz can.

Beer Two: Liquid Gravity Brewing: Mo Diggity DDH WCIPA. 7%. All Mosaic Hop. 16oz can.

Beer Three: East Brother Brewing : Gold IPA (same as beer one).

Drinking session: 8PM to Midnight.

Setup: Foot long tuna Subway sandwich at 6:00 PM (slightly embarrassing – work dinner). No food afterwards.

Water: 16oz of water during drinking session.

Normally I drink two 16oz beers a session with an occasional 12oz or 16oz beer. And I usually don’t have more than a Level 1 hangover (aware I had beers the previous night but no headache or sluggishness).

Verdict: I think the combo of only one glass of water, not a lot of food for a base and a slight uptick in alcohol consumed all contributed to this morning’s headache heavy hangover.

Lesson: Hydrate, dumbass.

I Drank These Two North Park Beers In The Past Couple Hours and I Want To Tell You Something…

North Park “GeometricGalaxy”
North Park “Mr Hoppy” IPA

They are very good beers.

That is it.

Wait…

I will say I don’t understand why they put “dank supreme” on the Mr. Hoppy beer, I did not get dank at all, which is fine, I don’t freaking care because it was a good beer, it’s just in this day and age when you say “dank” on the label and then you add “supreme” and you marry that with a SD brewer that knows how to make a damn dank beer and knows what a hazy California San Diego IPA is going to be in your mind – yes you know what we are going to think when you say those two words we are thinking HAZY AND POT – and you make the beer clear as fuck and totally west coast and now I am thinking “There are no rules to beer society anymore!! Every one do whatever the fuck you want!!” and that is cool and all but you made a westie, good on ya I guess.

Like I said, great beers.

I Am Only Drinking 30 Day Old IPAs Now

Love Hazy IPA Pride Beer

This Almanac Beer Co “Love Hazy IPA” is just 68 days old. It tastes way older than that.

It’s normally a good beer (I have had it before), a great brewer, it was stored cold (in the grocery store at least), so, even being a hazy, it should still taste fine.

It doesn’t. It tastes like it’s 6 to 7 months old. I think I am to blame.

I usually don’t have a hazy (or any pale or IPA really, past 30 days). This has ruined me for grocery shelf beer.

Under three months should totally be fine for any beer, but it isn’t for me. I am broke. It’s either start drinking older beers to re-calibrate my palate so I can enjoy beer that isn’t SUPER fresh. Or choose violence and exclusively drink super fresh beers.

I choose violence.

A PLEDGE!: If a hazy is past 31 days, I no longer will buy it.
