Saturday Night Drinking Post: Three Beers Edition

Good evening fellow beer (and maybe blogging) enthusiast. I’m starting late tonight because of a busy day of being a dad, watching the ending to Spike Lee’s HBO Epicenters series on 9/11 (it’s good) and the fact that I only have three beers.

I knew I wasn’t going to be able to buy more beers today and I only had three left so I waited as long as I could so I could have a decent drinking session and maybe have a productive buzz.

Live Drinking Blog:

  • Mammoth Brewing’s “Yosemite Pale” is beer number one. A beer I am familiar with, nicely priced, and a little bit old-school but not in a bad way.
  • So, do I have this right: GABF (virtual) and Craft Brewers Conference (in person) happened roughly at the same time this year? … um ookay?…
  • 10:18: New Beer Alert! 🚨 Wren House Brewing session IPA. Super stoked to have Phoenix’s Wren House in Fresno somehow:
  • Watching Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Chrystal Skull because that is what’s on at the moment (Showtime). It’s still a large disappointment but it also isn’t that terrible.
  • Another nice night in Fresno:

12:29: I’m back! I had a bit of a family emergency but everything is cool now. On to my 3rd and final beer:

1:33AM PST: What a rip. Never achieved a buzz. Just disappointment. Oh freaking well. Maybe next Saturday.

✌️🍻

Harrison Ford & Ridley Scott Having a Fosters

Harrison on the floor Ford with Ridley Scott and a couple of Fosters – Getty Images

I can’t tell you how much I love this picture of Harrison Ford and Director Ridley Scott, working out stuff before filming Blade Runner.

As a big Harrison Ford nerd (I have a podcast about him) and a beer nerd, this picture checks all my boxes.

Seeing Harrison laying on the floor is so very… Harrison. And it’s so very beer too. Having a couple beers and being creative and relaxed is what lo-fi beer drinking is all about and I love it.

I wonder what scene or character trait the two were working out. Maybe they were just talking about life. It’s magical what a couple of Foster oilcans can do.

Beer Journaling: Single Beer Depression

BEER JOURNAL: One Sad Little IPA

I am in a down mood this evening. There is nothing abnormally bad going on with life. Yes, there are things but there are ALWAYS things, ya know?

So, what the hell is going on?!

Well, part of it may be that I have only ONE fresh beer in the fridge. One 16oz IPA. And it’s Monday.

I could go out now and get more I guess but I am home from work and picking up child from practice, and dinner is done, and I just don’t want to go back out and stand in a line.

So I’m stuck with my one damn beer.

Some would say I am an alcoholic if I’m totally bummed that I have only one beer to look forward to. I guess they would be right, from a certain point of view.

Really though, I’m just bummed that my potential of having fun with beer is so limited.

Please, if you can, have a buzz for me tonight.

Ambiant Review: Tioga Sequoia “Bridalveil Lager”

The beer subject: Bridalveil Lager

I am not okay with giving straight reviews of beers. Either reviewing beer bores me or I simply suck at it, or both.

So this is the closest I can come to a beer review. In the roughly 20 minutes it took to drink this, these are some thoughts and things.

BEER DETAILS:

  • Name: Bridalveil Lager.
  • Brewer: Tioga Sequoia (Fresno,CA).
  • Style: American Lager.
  • ABV: 4.5%

THOUGHTS & SETTING:

  • 3:50PM. Fresno. On my patio at a table in my backyard. 94 degrees.
  • Music: “Citizen Erased” by Muse plays in the background.
  • Woah. This beer is easy to drink – I mean that in a good way.
  • I wonder how many people know that Bridalveil Falls is in Yosemite – that can be a very dangerous hike up that trail, super slick.
  • Oh hey, a little breeze. Maybe a 10mph gust.
  • Is Muse an underrated band or are they rated properly and I just haven’t paid attention?
  • Someone odd parked across the street. [inspects]. It appears to be someone looking at the house to rent it.
  • A neighbor with their patio on the other side of the fence from my patio, has come outside. She is arguing with her boyfriend whom is still inside. She is yelling back at him things, I can’t help but overhear. The fight seems to be about a friend of his who is a woman and he was defending her. My neighbor is not okay with the amount of positive talking he is doing about this friend.
  • This is a solid Lager. As crisp as the sky is blue right now.

Thanks for coming to my first Ambient Review of a beer. Here is some Muse for you:
